Hello there.
Yesterday's Tapestry rocked. Initially, I didn't want to buy the ticket, but later, I thought: ah heck, it's our last year anyway, so might as well go. And I'm glad I did.
Was meeting WJ, Regret and Justin at 1730 hrs at White Sands. Justin was there first, although he made me wait cos he went into the mall for goodness knows what reason... -.- Then WJ and Regret came from the direction of the MRT station, panting, cause apparently they had been 'running', since 'the public transport is slower'. Went to Cavanna for dinner since I was on a budget of $10 and they set set meals. Had their nasi lemak with a pepsi, was the first to finish even though I was the third to get my food... and When I said something was missing, WJ was going 'what? what?' It took him about 5 minutes to realise that I didn't get one of those number-counter thingies. You know, the plastic things with numbers on it, then when your order comes they give you the food and take the thingy away. Saw Kenneth and Alan. Alan looked a bit strange though. Maybe it's the skinny jeans. A strange image formed in my head: someone wearing a fatty shirt and skinny jeans. At around 1803 hrs Lawton turned up and we all on onto the MRT train and were on our way to Tapestry....
NOT.
We got off at Tampines 'cause apparently Lawton's junior/friend/gf/dunno was waiting at the Tampines station. We were like standing between the MRT doors, torn between get off/don't get off. In the end, we got off and got on the next train, meaning 7 minutes were used up. Train ride was unremarkable, nothing worth mentioning. But when we got off at Tanjong Pagar station, I couldn't get through the stupid gate because tapping the card gave me an error.
WTH! I know I did tap the card on my way in, I even remember the value left in it: S$8.80! So I had no choice but to follow Justin out by tagging closely. We were almost late for the start of of Tapestry; lucky we weren't. Met Kim Yong and Teck Yang on the stairs. Saw Mr Lim sitting somewhere in the front row with you-know-who. Hello!
There was a bit of confusion over the seating arrangement. At first we were going to sit in the third row, but then were informed that it was a VIP-only row?? So we had to sit on the right side of the Hall, even though I heard some SC say 'no, that one cannot, blocked off one'. It would have been a pretty nice place to sit at and enjoy the concert if not for the fact that we had unwittingly chosen to sit in front of the idiots from certain classes. Right at the start of the concert, they showed off their 'enthusiasm' by wolf-whistling, jeering and spewing vulgarities. They were doing that for like 5 minutes until they finally had the sense to shut up (for a while at least).
First up was Band. Sounded pretty normal to me. I mean, at least better than their in-school performances, although that might be because of the open-air area in school they usually have to perform at.
Next was Dance. Not much to say, except that I could have sworn I saw one of them make a mistake. Good thing she corrected it quickly.
It was around this time that the hooligans behind us started behaving like total **** again, what with their raucous and obvious laughter at who knows what. Honestly, I felt like turning around and
a) Tell them to shut the **** up.b) Ripping their heads off.c) screaming &(*$&$$*FU(*Y#&HGD*&&@I apologise for that outburst.
Choir was ok, it's last song was unexpected (since I didn't take a programme, so had to borrow one from Justin) It was
We Go Together.
And then it was Dance again, performing 'Tour of Mysterious Egypt'. The starting part was a bit unexpected, what with the pharaoh (the only male in Dance, as far as I know) doing some swaying thing and then suddenly collapsing. Then the rest of Dance were shaking their things and bottom like no tommorow. lol. Then the pharaoh got up again, did some spinning and ?dancing? before leaving the stage. After mush shaking, a new character entered the foray. At first it seemed like a girl, but upon closer inspection, I realised that it was in fact the same guy as just now. :P And I had a bastard thought: what would happen if someone slipped and fell?
----Start Intermission----About half the audience went out of the hall during the intermission, I was like OMG! so many people leaving their seats. If they had full bladders, it wasn't going to be a pretty sight, since there were like 573956529570751057 people and what, 2 toilets? Saw Cheng Boon, Teck Li, Jessica, Kar Yaow, Chester, Jon, Wei Heng, Ginny, Rick, Wanyi, and a whole bunch of other people.
----End Intermission----A pity the Metta CO couldn't come and perform, I was looking forward to that. And then the idiots at the back were saying so loudly, 'eh, where the metta co? i want to see them, why they not here?' Morons. Didn't they hear the announcement at the start of the concert, when they told us that the Metta CO coudn't come due to unforeseen circumstances?
Guzheng next. Their performance was great, as usual. Some slow, soothing parts and some fast-paced parts. One part of the piece they performed sounded like soldiers marching o.O
As always, the **** behind us had to make some loud, rude comments like 'Why guzheng got indian one?' I mean, seriously, what the ****. That person should just get killed or something, he has no place in NAS.
Then it was the Alumni CO. :o There were around, what, 10 people I recognised? Strange that they played
Yu Jian first, followed by
The wondrous adventures of Jack the Alien, since it was the other way round on the programme.
Last 2 performances were by CO. Yay for CO! (even though I was never really that devoted) The
Song of Qing-wen was great. What else do you expect? After all, we're an 'award-winning' Chinese Orchestra! Then came the final piece,
Matsuri. I was a little concerned that they would put up a less-than-stellar performance, since I had heard them rehearsing on Tuesday, and it didn't sound good. In the end, their performance was fab, (even if a little slow at times) and we all clapped like crazy.
Then we had to stand up and sing the school song.
----School Song----We'll walk hand in hand through the yearswith brotherly love and careWork hard to achieve great heightsin studies and in gamesStormy weather there'll always beso let us be preparedBe loyal to countryContributing to societyRighteousness and Courtesywe'll abide this golden ruleNgee Ann our great guardwe give our best to youRighteousness and Courtesy
we'll abide this golden ruleExcellence in all we dowe'll do it just for you--------------------I think half the audience didn't even open their mouths.
So the time came for us to leave.
Alas! When we exited the hall, we were greeted with a torrential downpour.
So we (including about 3/4 of the audience) had to wait for the weather to subside till we could go back. Miss Kum was so pretty, Mr Lim seemed to be in a hurry to go somewhere, and our Principal has a son! o.O never knew.
In the end, had to phone home to ask my parents to fetch me (as well as WJ and Regret) home.
Made it back just in time for Pushing Daisies, however, I had a stomachache, so I missed 10 minutes of the show. The show was hilarious and witty, as always.
Okay, I shall end here for now.
OMG I TOOK 1.5 HOURS TO TYPE OUT THIS ENTRY!!!!________________________
UPDATE: Wei Lin has owned up to the screaming. But that doesn't make it any better. Those idiots were very annoying.
